This is where I got my "Birth Sherpa" idea. I really do feel like a Sherpa climbing the birth mountain with each mom and partner. Some mountains are higher than others and each journey is different. It's such a privilege and honor to take each journey with the couples as they become a family.
I love being a guide through birth and watching moms reach the top. The summit has been reached when mom is holding her baby in her arms. The next journey (parenthood) begins and they start a new adventure together. They are thankful for my guidance and support. But, I did not carry them to the top. They did it together. I was there to support them without telling them which way they had to go. The journey is theirs!
Whether you decide to have a Birth Sherpa (doula) as your support, enjoy the journey. It is such a special and amazing adventure. May your journey be special and powerful!
